3rd Place Finish for NHS ProStart Team

The Northridge High School ProStart Management Team recently brought home a third-place finish in the state at the Colorado ProStart Invitational in Denver. Competing against top high school teams from across Colorado, the students presented their original restaurant concept, Mosaic, to a panel of industry judges.

Students have been working on their proposal since October, developing and refining their concept over several months. As part of the Management Competition, the team created a full restaurant concept that included a menu, marketing plan, operations plan, floor plan, and interior design. They then presented their idea and answered questions from judges about how their restaurant would operate in the real world.

Their concept, Mosaic, focuses on Syrian and Mexican fusion cuisine, bringing together flavors and traditions from both cultures in a welcoming dining space. Throughout the process, students demonstrated strong teamwork, creativity, and professionalism while preparing for competition.

While in Denver, the students also had the opportunity to experience the hospitality industry beyond the competition. They enjoyed dinner and a restaurant tour at Barcelona, toured the banquet kitchens at the Hilton Denver City Center with the executive chef, and visited the hospitality program at Metropolitan State University of Denver to learn more about careers in the industry.

ProStart is a nationwide career and technical education program supported by the Colorado Restaurant Foundation and the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, helping high school students explore careers in the restaurant and hospitality industry through hands-on learning and industry connections.

The experience gave students the chance to showcase their skills, connect with industry professionals, and represent Northridge on a statewide stage.
