Northridge High School ProStart Cooks Up New Lunch Item

NHS ProStart Chicken Wrap

Our Northridge High School ProStart students have spent the past several weeks going through a full menu-development process to create a new lunch item for Greeley-Evans School District 6 Nutrition Services!

Our Northridge High School ProStart students have spent the past several weeks going through a full menu-development process to create a new lunch item for District 6!

They began by learning from the district’s menu specialist about reimbursable meals and the specific requirements that school lunch items must meet. Each student group then created a recipe prototype, and their classes voted on which recipes would move forward for review by SHAC, the Student Health Advisory Council.

SHAC evaluated six student-created recipes and selected the top two, one from each class. From there, students met with Chef Kris and Mariah, Greeley-Evans District 6 Nutrition Services, to review their recipes, make revisions, and test another iteration.

After final adjustments, students mass produced their finished versions and shared samples with the Northridge general population during lunch, who voted on the winning dish.

The Grizzly Ranch’n Chicken Wrap, created by Block 3 earned the most votes and will appear on the lunch menu district-wide at least once!

Great job to our Grizzly students and staff!
